The begining

So I've been thinking that i should have a journal of sorts.  I have the idea in my minds eye that a handwritten with pen and paper would be best, however i get finger cramps, and somehow doubt this will last.  Perhaps I'm wrong, lets hope for the latter.  So as for a update on me, for those of you who might stumble upon this little gem.  I'm 37 (I think), my wife and I live in River Heights Utah, a small town just outside of Logan Utah.  My wife's name is Valerie, she works as a pharmacy tech.  I myself work as a LPN at Logan Regional Hospital, specifically, I work in the Behavioral Health Unit.  I have no children, unless you count the dog we spoil, at least she thinks that she is a human.  I will as time goes on do a little piece on them in a latter blog.

I have lived in the Logan area for nearly 15 years.  I moved here from Oklahoma City, and in many ways I still consider myself to be a "Okie."  However, I was in fact born in Kentucky.  Since living in Logan, I have had a number of jobs.  Yep, I worked as a assistant manager at Fred Meyer/ Smiths Marketplace, a nurse at a nursing home, a cook at a dine-in Pizza Hut, Wal-Mart electronics clerk, Gas Station clerk, a hotel night clerk, assembly line building treadmills, and bagging and boxing cheese in a cheese factory.  That is the bulk of my employment.  Prior to moving to Utah I spent years working at a Record store called Sound Warehouse, and at a Sonic Drive In.

I only mention all of my prior places of employment because now i want to ramble about my current employment.  I am currently working as a LPN at the local hospital.  You might think that my current occupation doesn't fit the previous, and your right!  the last year or so since I have worked as a nurse has been different for me!  My schooling has been different for me.  Schooling for me has always been a uphill battle.  I did not really grow up in a home where higher education was stressed.  So the desire to continue beyond high school had to come from within, which at times has been difficult.  However I eventually did all my pre-reqs, and got into a LPN program.  After which I got my license and have worked.  I am currently attempting to get the gumption to get my pre-reqs done so i can get my RN license and move on.

So after getting my LPN, I continued to work my old job at Smiths Marketplace part time, and began working part time my first ever nursing job in a nursing home.  Talk about hard work!  I would work at 6pm, and start passing medications until midnight.  then I tried to put out little fires, do paperwork.  I ran, and ran and it wore me out.  After about 4 months I heard about the opportunity to start working at the hospital in the Behavioral Health Unit.  I started working at the hospital a year ago this past July.  I continued to be available to work at the nursing home during this time, however i rarely ever did work for them, it just was difficult to squeeze into my new job.  However recently things as the hospital have recently been slow.  There just have not been enough people who are suicidal, or actively psychotic, which gets me cut, and i don't get to work!

So anyways, today i had a lovely blessing.  A friend who works at the nursing home called me, and asked if i could work for her this month.  So a bit apprehensively i told her i would so long as the nursing home was okay with it!  I went into the nursing home and talked to the manager.  She was more that willing to have me come and work for them, in fact she offered me several other shifts, which happened to be on days that i was free to work!  At any rate, I am starting back at the nursing home, and will be working 5 shifts this month, in addition to working at the hospital.

I guess after all my senseless rambling here, i just wanted to publicly express how grateful i am that i have good employment.  Where rather than just going without the work, i have the option to pick up other hours to supplement my income.  I see so many people where i work who are jobless, and can't work for various reasons, I have the option to pick up work when needed!  what a blessing!

Okay so sorry about blabbering, i will write more another time.
